Introduction

Categories and tags help you organize your articles, making it easier for your readers to find related content. While they may seem similar, there are key differences in how they work and how they affect your articles.

How Categories and Tags Work

Both categories and tags can be linked to an article, and a page is automatically generated for each. These pages display all the articles that share the same category or tag, helping to keep your content organized.

Key Differences

  1. Number of Assignments:

    • You can assign only one category to an article. When creating an article, you’ll see a drop-down menu on the right-hand panel to select the category.

    • In contrast, you can link as many tags as you like to an article. This gives you more flexibility in labeling the article with multiple relevant tags.

  2. Impact on the URL:

    • The name of the selected category will appear in the URL of the article, like this: www.namewebsite.com/category/article-name.

    • Tags are not visible in the URL.

By using both categories and tags effectively, you can help your readers navigate your site while also improving the organization of your content.
