Introduction

The Files page in the admin panel of Newsifier allows you to easily create, upload, and manage files on your web server without needing external tools. This feature is particularly useful for managing important files that your website or app needs to run smoothly, such as robots.txt or ads.txt, which may be necessary for SEO or ad integration purposes.

Key Files You Might Need to Manage in Newsifier

Newsifier makes it easy to manage important files directly from the Files page in the admin panel. Below are some key files you might need to create or upload, with their specific purposes, locations, and why they’re important.

  1. Ads.txt

The ads.txt (Authorized Digital Sellers) file is essential for websites that run digital ads. It protects your site from ad fraud by listing the companies authorized to sell ad space on your behalf. Advertisers use this file to verify they are buying ads through legitimate sellers, ensuring transparency and security.

    • Why it’s important: Prevents unauthorized parties from selling your ad space, ensuring only trusted partners are involved.

    • Location: exampledomain.com/ads.txt

    • Tip: If an ad agency manages this file for you, you can set up a redirect URL to their version so you don’t have to update it manually.

  2. App-ads.txt

If you display ads in a mobile app, you’ll need an app-ads.txt file. Like ads.txt, it lists the authorized sellers of your app's ad space, ensuring transparency and security in mobile advertising.

    • Why it’s important: Ensures that only authorized sellers can offer ad space in your app, preventing fraud in the mobile ad space.

    • Location: exampledomain.com/app-ads.txt

    • Tip: You can also use a redirect URL for this file if your ad provider manages it on your behalf.

  3. Robots.txt

The robots.txt file is used to control how search engines crawl your website. It tells bots which pages should or shouldn’t be indexed. However, this file isn’t always necessary, as search engines typically crawl all pages by default. You only need to configure a robots.txt file if you want to restrict or control what gets indexed.

    • Why it’s important: Helps manage what search engines can or cannot index on your site. It’s only required if you want to customize what’s crawled.

    • Location: exampledomain.com/robots.txt

    • Tip: If you don’t need to restrict what is crawled, you don’t need to set up this file. Search engines will naturally crawl your entire site.

  4. Search Console Verification File

When verifying your website for Google Search Console, you need to upload a unique verification file. Google provides this file, and it’s necessary to prove ownership of your site. Once verified, you can access performance data and other insights through Google Search Console.

    • Why it’s important: Required to verify ownership of your site and access Google Search Console for tracking site performance.

    • Location: exampledomain.com/google23423423.txt (Example filename; Google provides a unique verification file for each site)

    • Tip: After verification, you can delete this file, as it’s only needed once during the verification process.
