Introduction

Managing duplicate tags or categories is essential for keeping your content organized and ensuring a smooth user experience. In Newsifier, you can easily merge tags or categories that have the same value or content, consolidating them into one. This article will guide you through the process using the Tag Manager or Category Manager.

What You Need to Know Before You Start

  1. Tags with Tags, Categories with Categories Only:

    • You can merge tags with other tags or categories with other categories.

    • You cannot merge tags with categories or vice versa.

  2. Automatic Content Migration:

    • When merging, the system automatically moves all related articles from the original tag or category to the newly selected one.

    • The URLs of affected articles will also be updated automatically.

Step-by-Step Guide to Merging Tags

  1. Navigate to the Tag Manager in the Newsifier admin panel.

  2. Choose the tag you want to merge into another tag.

  3. Scroll down and expand the Advanced Settings section.

  4. Locate the Merge Tag option.

  5. From the dropdown menu, select the tag you want to merge with. Example: If you are merging Tag A into Tag B, select Tag B.

  6. Click the Merge button.

  7. The current tag (e.g., Tag A) will be deleted, and all its related articles and resources will move to the selected tag (e.g., Tag B).

Step-by-Step Guide to Merging Categories

The process for categories is identical to tags:

  1. Open the Category Manager.

  2. Select the category to merge.

  3. Access the Advanced Settings section and locate the Merge Category option.

  4. Choose the new category from the dropdown menu.

  5. Click Merge to consolidate the categories.

What Happens After Merging?

  • The system automatically redirects the URLs of the merged category to the new one.

  • All associated resources, such as articles, are seamlessly transferred to the selected tag or category.

โš ๏ธImportant Note

Merging is Permanent. This action cannot be undone, so make sure you double-check your selections before proceeding. Once the tags or categories are merged, the original tag or category will be deleted, and all related resources will be permanently transferred to the selected one.
