Introduction

The Polls feature in Newsifier allows publishers to engage their audience by embedding interactive polls directly within articles. Readers can participate in polls, and results are displayed in real time. This feature helps drive user engagement and provides valuable insights into reader opinions. Below, we’ll walk you through how to access, manage, and embed polls within your articles.

Accessing the Polls Manager

To access the Polls Manager:

  1. Navigate to the Admin Panel.

  2. Select Community from the menu.

  3. Click on Polls Manager.

Here, you will find an overview of all polls created in your system, including their assigned articles and statuses.

Managing Polls

Bulk Actions

  • From the Polls Overview Page, you can select multiple polls and use the bulk action button to delete them.

Filtering Polls

  • Use the available filters to refine the list of polls based on:

    • Status: Open or closed polls.

    • Assignment: Assigned or unassigned polls to articles.

Poll Overview Page

The Polls Overview Page displays key information for each poll, including:

  • Poll Question and Answers

  • Creator of the Poll

  • Number of Votes

  • Assignment Status (whether linked to an article or not)

  • Poll Status (Active, Closed, or Inactive)

Creating a New Poll

To create a new poll:

  1. Go to the Polls Overview Page.

  2. Click on the Add Poll button in the top right corner.

  3. Enter the required details:

    • Poll Question

    • Possible Answers

    • Assigned Articles

    • Poll Status

Editing Polls

Clicking on a poll opens the edit page, where you can:

  • Add or remove answers.

  • Change the status:

    • Active (Yes): The poll appears on the assigned article.

    • Inactive (No): The poll is hidden from users.

    • Closed: The poll remains visible, but users cannot vote.

  • View and manage assigned articles.

Assigning a Poll to Articles

To assign a poll to an article:

  1. Open the poll from the Polls Manager.

  2. Locate the Assigned Articles field.

  3. Start typing the article name to search for available articles.

  4. Select one or multiple articles where the poll should be displayed.

Embedding a Poll in an Article

There are two ways to add a poll to an article:

  1. From the Polls Manager:

    • When you assign a poll to an article from the Polls Manager, it automatically appears at the bottom of that article.

    • If you want to reposition it, edit the article and move the poll to the desired location.

  2. From the Article Editor:

    • Open the article in the Article Manager.

    • From the article toolbar, select the Poll Widget.

    • Enter the poll question and possible answers.

User Interaction on the Front End

  • Logged-in users can vote in a poll.

  • After voting, users will immediately see the current poll results.

  • Closed polls remain visible, but voting is disabled.
