Introduction
This guide provides a clear explanation of the layout settings available in the Newsifier CMS and how they affect the appearance and functionality of your website. These settings control various aspects of your homepage, article pages, sidebars, and RSS feeds. Adjusting these settings appropriately ensures that your content is displayed as intended.
How to Access Layout Settings
To access layout settings:
Go to the side menu on the left-hand side of your CMS dashboard.
Click on Settings.
Select the Layout tab at the top of the Settings page.
Now you can see and change all layout-related settings for your website.
Homepage Layout Settings
1. Number of big articles shown in headlines
Define how many large articles (type: big) should appear in the headline section. This should align with your homepage design and only needs updating if the layout changes.
2. Number of small articles shown in headlines
Set how many small articles should be shown in the headline area. This number should match the design of your homepage. Only adjust this when modifying your layout.
Note: These settings do not change the actual layout of your homepage. They are only used by the API to ensure the correct number of articles is displayed in the right sections. Clients typically do not need to adjust these values unless the website layout or theme is changed.

3. Hide Articles from News List
Options: Yes / No
Function: If set to "Yes," articles displayed in the headline section (both big and small) will be excluded from the latest news list. If set to "No," these articles will appear in both the headline and news list.
4. Minimum Articles for Tag to Be Visible
Purpose: Determines the minimum number of articles linked to a tag required for the tag to have its own page.
Example: If set to 3, a tag must be associated with at least three articles to generate a tag page.
Article Page Layout Settings
1. Source
Options: Yes / No
Purpose: When enabled, this option lets you show the original source of an article, such as a link to an external website.
Once activated:
Two fields will appear in the article editor in the CMS:
Source – the name or label of the source (e.g., "BBC News")
Source URL – the link to the original article
On the website, the source will be displayed above or below the article image, depending on your layout. The source text will be clickable and will link to the URL you provided.
2. Enable Auto Tag Linking
Options: Yes / No
Function: Automatically links words or phrases in the article content to existing tags with matching names.
Example: If the word "sports" appears in the article and there's a tag named "sports," it will be linked to the corresponding tag page.
3. Date and Time Display
Options:
Date and Time: Shows the complete publish date and time (e.g., "Apr 24, 2025 – 13:45").
Time Only: Displays only the time for articles published today. Otherwise, shows full date and time.
Relative Date: Displays how long ago the article was published, e.g., "2 hours ago". Only applies to articles published in the past 24 hours.
General Settings
1. Footer Content
Function: Allows you to add custom text to the footer of your website. The display depends on your template design.
2. Show RSS Link in Footer
Options: Yes / No
Function: When enabled, an RSS icon will appear in your website's footer. Clicking this icon will take users to your RSS feed URL.
Additional Layout Settings (for Newsifier V1 websites)
1. Articles Shown Below Headline
Function: Sets the total number of articles displayed below the headline section on the homepage.
Example: If set to 10, ten articles will appear in this section.
2. Bigger Articles Shown Below Headline
Function: Determines how many large articles are displayed below the headline on the homepage.
Note: The display depends on your theme. If set to 5, five large articles will be shown, followed by other articles in the "Latest News" section.
3. Total Articles in Sidebar
Function: Sets the number of articles displayed in the sidebar, such as in sections like "Latest News" or "Most Read."
4. Articles Shown in Popular News
Function: Determines how many articles appear in the "Popular News" section of your website.
5. Comments Shown in Latest Comments
Function: Sets the number of recent comments displayed in the "Latest Comments" section of the sidebar.
6. Show Last Updated Date
Options: Yes / No
Function: If enabled, displays the last updated date of the article.
7. Show Previous and Next Buttons
Options: Yes / No
Function: If enabled, adds navigation buttons at the end of the article to move to the previous or next article.
8. Author
Options: Yes / No
Function: If enabled, displays the author's name, It will be displayed above or below the article image, depending on your layout.
RSS Feed Settings
1. Enable RSS Feed
Options: Yes / No
Function: If enabled, allows you to display articles from external websites via RSS feeds in your sidebar.
Fields:
Name of Feed: The title of the RSS feed.
URL: The URL of the RSS feed (XML format).
Number of Articles: The number of articles to display from the RSS feed.
Load More Link: A link that users can click to be redirected for when load more articles from the RSS feed.
2. Enable RSS Feed 2
Function: Similar to the first RSS feed, allows you to add a second RSS feed widget, depending on your website's design and needs.
General Settings
1. Head Content
Function: Allows you to add custom text or scripts to the
<head>
section of your web pages. The effect depends on your template.
2. Dynamic News List
Function: Enables you to create a dynamic list of news articles in the sidebar.
Fields:
Title: The title of the news list.
Tag or Category: Select a tag or category from your website to filter articles.
Number of Articles: The number of articles to display in the sidebar.
