Introduction

With Newsifier, you can easily turn any article into a video-focused article by selecting the Video article type. This option allows your video to appear at the top of the article (in the featured image area) and, for supported platforms, automatically uses the video’s thumbnail across your news lists.

This guide walks you through how the Video type works, how to add YouTube, Kijk, and Aniview videos, and what your readers will see once the article is published.

What is the Video Article Type

When you set an article to type Video (from the Article page in the admin panel):

  • The video is displayed at the top of the article, replacing the featured image area.

  • For platforms like YouTube and Kijk, the system automatically uses the video thumbnail as the article’s thumbnail in lists (homepage, category pages, etc.).

  • The user can play the video immediately when opening the article.

If you do not set the article type to Video:

  • The video will only appear inside the article content (where you inserted it).

  • The article will continue using your regular featured image at the top and in lists.

Adding Videos to Your Article

From the Article edit page in your admin panel

1. YouTube videos

  • Simply copy and paste the YouTube video URL directly into the article content.

  • No embed code is needed.

  • When the article type is set to Video, Newsifier automatically:

    • Displays the YouTube player at the top of the article

    • Uses the YouTube thumbnail as the article thumbnail in lists

2. Kijk videos

  • Copy and paste the Kijk video URL into the article content.

  • No embed code is needed.

  • When set to Video, the Kijk player appears at the top of the article, and its thumbnail is used in lists.

For step-by-step instructions on how to obtain the correct Kijk URL, refer to our Kijk Video Integration help article.

3. Aniview videos

  • Copy your Aniview embed code .

  • In the article content, insert the embed code using RAW HTML block.

  • When set to Video, the Aniview player appears at the top of the article.

  • Thumbnail behavior:
Aniview does not automatically provide a thumbnail.
The thumbnail shown in article lists will be based on the featured image you set manually in the Article page.

How to Set an Article as a Video Article

  1. Open the Article page in the admin panel.

  2. Add your video (YouTube URL, Kijk URL, or Aniview embed code) into the article content.

  3. On the right-hand side, locate the Article Type settings.

  4. Select Video.

  5. Save or publish the article.

What Readers Will See

Once the article type is set to Video:

  • At the top of the article:
The video player replaces the featured image section.

  • In lists (homepage, category pages, etc.):

    • YouTube & Kijk: the platform’s video thumbnail is automatically used

    • Aniview: the system uses your manually selected featured image.

If the article type is not set to Video:

  • The video only appears inside the content.

  • The featured image behaves normally.
