Introduction

Featured articles help you highlight your most important stories at the top of your homepage. They are ideal for breaking news, exclusive content, or articles you want visitors to see first.

What does “Featured Article” mean?

Inside the Article Editor, you can mark an article as Featured.
Once selected, the article will appear in the featured area at the top of your homepage, instead of only appearing in its normal category or news feed.

Choosing the Featured Display Style: Big or Small

When you want to mark an article as featured, you can choose how it should appear on the homepage:

  1. Big – Displays the article in the large featured slot for maximum visibility.

  2. Small – Displays the article in one of the smaller featured positions, still highlighted but less dominant.

  3. No – The article will not appear in the featured section.

This lets you decide how much attention each featured article should receive.

How Featured Articles Are Displayed on Your Homepage

Your homepage layout already includes a predefined number of big and small featured article slots. These are configured by the Newsifier team when your website design is created. If you want to change how many big or small featured articles appear—or adjust their placement—you can contact the Newsifier Support Team to update this for you.

Examples of predefined layouts:

  • 1 Big + 2 Small featured articles

  • 1 Big + 4 Small featured articles

  • 2 Bigs only

  • Small-only layouts

Featured Section Settings in the Layout Tab

In Settings → Layout, you will find the configuration related to the featured section.

Here you will see the numbers for big and small featured article slots.

The numbers shown here reflect how your homepage template was originally set up by the Newsifier team. These values do not change your layout. To adjust how many big or small featured articles your homepage supports—or to change their placement—you can contact the Newsifier Support Team.

Hide Articles From News List

In the same Layout settings, you will also see the option:

Hide Articles From News List

  • If set to Yes, any article that appears in the featured section will be hidden from the other homepage article sections, preventing it from being shown twice.

  • If set to No, featured articles will appear both in the featured section and in the regular article blocks on the homepage.

This option only controls duplication; it does not change how many big or small featured articles your homepage can display.

How Article Rotation Works

If you feature more articles than your homepage layout supports, the older featured articles will rotate out automatically. Only the most recent featured articles—based on the article’s publish date—will appear in the featured section. Any extra featured articles beyond the allowed number will not be shown on the homepage, but they will still remain published normally on your website.
