Why This Matters
If you want to publish a mobile app on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, you must first create developer accounts on both platforms. These accounts give you access to dashboards where you manage apps, view analytics, handle updates, and release new versions.
Before You Start – What You’ll Need
Make sure you have:
✔ A valid email address
✔ A credit or debit card for fees
✔ Business information (name, address, phone)
✔ A Google Account (for Play) and an Apple ID (for App Store)
✔ Your company’s legal info and tax details (especially for organizations)
Part 1 — Apple App Store Developer Account
1. Create or Use Your Apple ID
If you already have an Apple ID, you can use it. Otherwise:
Go to appleid.apple.com
Click Create Your Apple ID
Fill in your information and verify via email.
2. Enroll in the Apple Developer Program
Visit Apple’s Developer Program page and click Start your enrollment.
Sign in with your Apple ID.
Choose your entity type:
Individual — your personal name will be shown as seller.
Organization — business name will show, and Apple may ask for a D‑U‑N‑S Number (business identifier).
3. Turn On Two‑Factor Authentication
Apple requires two‑factor authentication (2FA). You must enable this on your Apple ID before continuing.
4. Pay the Annual Fee
Apple charges a developer fee of $99/year (approximate, may vary by currency).
5. Review & Submit
Agree to Apple’s Developer Agreement and submit your application. Apple may take 24–48 hours to review and activate your account.
Final Step
After completing the previous steps (Apple ID, enrollment, 2FA, and payment), your account will be reviewed by Apple. Once approved:
You’re done! Your Apple Developer Account is now active and ready to use.
Part 2 — Google Play Developer Account
1. Create or Use a Google Account
Most clients already have a Gmail address. If not:
Go to accounts.google.com
Set up a Google account — this will be used for the Play Console.
2. Sign Up for Google Play Console
Visit play.google.com/console
Log in with your Google Account
Make sure to activate 2-step verification
3. Pay the Registration Fee
Google Play charges a one‑time fee of $25 to create a developer account.
4. Complete Your Developer Profile
Fill in:
Developer name (this appears publicly on Google Play)
Email and contact details
Company or individual info as applicable.
5. Accept the Developer Agreement
Agree to Google Play’s terms and distribution agreement.
Final Step
Once you’ve submitted your developer profile, agreed to the terms, and paid the $25 fee:
That’s it! Your Google Play Developer Account is ready to go.
Important Notes & Tips
✔ Apple vs. Google Fees
Apple requires annual payment ($99/year).
Google charges a single one‑time fee ($25).
✔ Use Business Accounts Where Possible
For organizations with teams, it’s usually better to register as an organization account rather than an individual — especially on Google Play, as it provides better team access controls and professional credibility.
✔ Prepare Your Legal Info Ahead
For company accounts, Apple may require a D‑U‑N‑S Number and Google may request identity verification. Have your business documentation ready.
