How Can This Feature Help You as a News Publisher?
At Newsifier, we understand that managing newsletters can be a complex and time-consuming task, especially when dealing with multiple audience segments and content updates. Our Newsletter feature is designed to simplify the process by allowing you to create, customize, and schedule newsletters with ease. This feature helps you efficiently communicate with your readers, ensuring that your content reaches the right audience at the right time, whether through one-off campaigns or recurring newsletters.
How Does the Feature Work?
Using the Newsletter feature is straightforward. Here’s how you can get started:
Step 1: Accessing the Newsletter Feature
Access the menu on the bottom in the left menu in the CMS. Click on the "Newsletter" menu item to enter the Newsletter dashboard.
Once you are in the Newsletter menu, you can view a list of previously created newsletters, or start fresh if this is your first newsletter.
Step 2: Creating a New Newsletter
Click the blue "New" button on the dashboard to begin setting up your newsletter.
Step 3: Newsletter Setup - Three Key Steps
Email Design:
Choose a Template: Select either Template 1 or Template 2 and customize it with your brand's colors and logo.
After selecting the template, customize the color scheme to match your brand and upload your logo, which will appear at the top of the newsletter.
Newsletter Information: Enter an internal name for the Newsletter that will only be visible to your and your team.
Enter Sender Information: Enter the sender name and email address in the relevant boxes.
Subject Line: Create a compelling subject line:
Send Frequency: choose whether to send the newsletter manually or automatically on a recurring schedule. You have the following options:
Manual (One-Off Newsletter): Choose this option if you just want to send one newsletter now and do not want to create a recurring newsletter. After designing, you have to manually trigger the send.
Automatic (Recurring Newsletter): Select this option to set up a recurring newsletter. You can schedule it to be sent daily, weekly, or monthly and specify exact timings, such as "every Monday at 9 AM."
Adding Content:
Static Content:
Static content blocks allow you to manually select articles or other content from your site. Once saved, these selections remain unchanged, making them ideal for one-off newsletters.
Dynamic Content:
Dynamic content blocks automatically pull in articles based on the criteria you set. For example, you can opt to include the most-read articles or the latest articles published since the last newsletter. Dynamic content is perfect for recurring newsletters where content needs to stay fresh.
How to Manually select articles or content for your newsletter, ideal for one-off newsletters
Click the edit icon on the top right of the article content.
Select “Static”, search for and select the articles you want to add, and click on save.
How to Automatically include content based on criteria like most-read articles, perfect for recurring newsletters
Click the edit icon on the top right of the article content.
Click “Dynamic” and then select the section title, how to sort the content, and the number of articles to send.
NOTE:
For the “What should happen if there are less articles available than the chosen number?” option:
If you select “Send Newsletter”, it will send the Newsletter anyways even if the number of articles is less than available.
If you select “Pause Newsletter”, it will pause the Newsletter and you will have to choose a different number of articles.
Additional Notes on Dynamic Content:
The newsletter will not be sent if there are no articles available, and the system will retry on the next scheduled date.
All your articles, including those published via a Feed (XML or AI), are included in the dynamic selection.
For weekly newsletters, the client must specify the day and time for sending. The system will pull articles based on your chosen criteria (e.g., the most recent or most-read articles from the past seven days).
After finalizing the content, click on Save to the Newsletter as a draft or Save and Continue to save and move on to the Marketing section.
Marketing:
Upload a CSV file of your subscribers and then click on Save.
NOTE:
You can upload a CSV file with your subscriber list. Ensure that your file is correctly formatted with at least the email addresses of your subscribers. You can download an example CSV file from this page to see the CSV format you need to follow to upload the email addresses.
After you upload the CSV, a Subscribe Form will appear. You can customize this Subscribe Form to embed in articles or click on “Skip for now”. Once you have done that, click on Save.
NOTE:
If you would like to add all registered users of your website as subscribers to your newsletter, then you can ask Newsifier to provide you with an export of all your users and their email addresses.
Step 4: Sending Your Newsletter
Double-check settings, preview the newsletter, and send it immediately or schedule it for later.
After sending, track performance through metrics like open rates, click-through rates, and bounce rates on the analytics dashboard.
Newsletter Subscribe Page
On the dashboard, you'll find a button labeled 'Page.' Clicking it provides a preview of your subscription page, where you can also copy the link to share. This link directs people to a dedicated page where they can easily subscribe to your newsletter(s).
Market Your Newsletter
How Can You Market Your Newsletter More Effectively?
To maximize the impact of your Newsletter, you need to make it easier for readers to find and subscribe to your newsletter. By integrating subscription options directly into your website and content, you can boost visibility and attract more subscribers.
Here are a few strategies to help you promote your newsletters effectively to your audience:
Adding a Subscription Link to Your Website's Footer or Menu
One easy way to promote your newsletter is by adding a subscription link to your website's footer or main menu. Here's how you can do it:
Access the Subscription Page: Click on “Page” in your Newsletter dashboard.
Copy the Link: After reviewing the subscription page, simply copy the URL of the page. This link can be used anywhere on your website to allow users to subscribe to your newsletters.
Update the Menu: To add the subscription link to your website’s menu:
Navigate to the menu settings.
Add a new menu item, give it a name like "Newsletter," and paste the subscription page link you copied earlier.
Save the changes to make the subscription option visible in your website's navigation.
Embedding Subscription Forms in Articles
If you want to increase newsletter sign-ups directly through your articles, you can embed the subscription form within the content. Here's how:
Enable Automatic Embedding: When setting up your newsletter, you can choose to automatically embed the subscription form in all articles on your site. This means that whenever a reader views any article, they’ll see a Newsletter Subscription form at the bottom of the page, encouraging them to sign up for your newsletter.
Create a Newsletter-Promoting Article: You can also write an article specifically promoting your newsletter. With the subscription form embedded automatically, this article can act as a dedicated page to drive newsletter sign-ups.
Use the pop-up feature to market your Newsletter
You can also use the pop-up feature in Newsifier to boost your newsletter subscriber base by promoting your newsletter directly to visitors. Here's how:
First, go to your newsletter page within the CMS and copy the link to your newsletter sign-up form.
Navigate to the Monetizing section in the admin panel, then select Pop-up from the menu.
Customize your pop-up by adding an image and a button. Insert the link to your newsletter sign-up page in the button settings.
When visitors see the pop-up and click on the button, they will be directed to your newsletter sign-up page, making it easy for them to subscribe. The pop-up will appear once per day for every visitor.
Why These Strategies Matter
Adding subscription links to key areas of your website, like the footer or menu, ensures visitors can easily find and sign up for your newsletters, regardless of which page they land on. In addition, embedding subscription forms in your articles allows you to attract more subscribers to your newsletter.
By using both methods, you’ll give your audience multiple opportunities to subscribe to your newsletters, helping you grow your subscriber base efficiently.
