At Newsifier, we ensure that your news website is technically optimized for Google. This involves a series of optimizations that help your articles get indexed quickly by Google and stand a better chance of appearing in Google Search, Google News, and Google Discover.

How Newsifier technically optimizes your website for Google

Here are some of the main ways we optimize your website for Google:

  1. Page Speed Optimization: We optimize your website's speed, ensuring that it loads quickly for users, which is crucial for ranking well on Google.

  2. Core Web Vitals: We focus on optimizing the Core Web Vitals, which are specific metrics that Google uses to measure user experience. These include things like loading performance, interactivity, and visual stability.

  3. Optimized Sitemaps: Newsifier ensures that your sitemaps are optimized. This helps Google discover and crawl your content efficiently, so your articles can be indexed as soon as possible.

What Does "Indexed" Mean?

When your article is indexed, it means that Google has found your content and added it to its index. This allows your content to appear in Google Search results or in Google News and Google Discover. However, just because your article is indexed doesn't mean it will immediately rank at the top of search results—especially if your site is new. Neither will it directly be visible in Google News and Google Discover.

How to Check if Your Website is Indexed by Google

You can easily check if your website or specific URLs are indexed by Google:

  1. In the search bar, type site: followed by your website’s URL without the www. (e.g., site:yourwebsite.com).

  2. Press enter, and Google will display all the URLs from your site that have been indexed.

You can also check if a specific URL is indexed by typing site: followed by the full URL in the Google search bar.

Getting Your Website into Google News and Discover

So being indexed by Google doesn’t automatically mean your content will appear in Google News or Google Discover. In the past, websites needed to submit their sites manually via the Google Publisher Center for inclusion in Google News. However, since April 25, 2024, Google no longer accepts manual submissions for Google News. Now, Google automatically checks your site based on its Google News policies and content guidelines and decides to index it or not.

How to Check If Your Website is in Google News

To see if your website has been included in Google News:

  1. Type your website’s name or URL into the search bar.

  2. If your site is included, it will appear in the results.

Tips for Appearing in Google News and Google Discover

The best way to ensure your website is included in Google News and Google Discover is to consistently follow Google’s Guidelines for Google News.

These guidelines include:

1.Provide Transparent Information About Your Site:

  • Include an “About” page with information about your publication, editorial team, and purpose.

  • Make sure contact details are easily accessible to establish trust with readers.

2. Publish Regularly and Consistently:

  • Post frequently and on a regular schedule to demonstrate consistency and reliability as a news source.

3. Build Authoritative Backlinks:

  • Increase your site’s credibility by earning backlinks from other reputable news websites or authoritative sources.

It can take time to be included in both Google News and Google Discover. Based on our experience at Newsifier:

  • Google Discover: Typically, it takes at least six months of consistent publishing and following Google's guidelines to appear here, and sometimes even longer.

  • Google News: Websites are often included earlier, but it may take time to gain substantial traffic.

Consistency is key

Consistency is key! It’s important to maintain a regular publishing schedule and adhere to Google's content guidelines to maximize your chances of being included in both Google News and Google Discover.

By ensuring that your website is technically optimized from the start, Newsifier helps you stay ahead of the competition and grow your online presence on Google.
