Introduction

Ads are an essential tool for monetizing your website, and Newsifier makes it simple to manage and configure them effectively. With predefined ad positions and flexible settings, you can ensure ads appear where they’ll have the greatest impact, without disrupting your content.

Note: This help article is specifically for users on our V1 platform, which can be identified by the location of their admin panel at exampledomain.com/admin

What is the Ads tool?

The Ads tool in Newsifier allows you to integrate, manage, and optimize ads across your website. This tool is perfect for publishers and website owners who want control over ad placement, whether handling it themselves or working with an external ad agency.

In Newsifier, you can create accounts specifically for ad agencies, with Advertiser role , giving them access only to the ads section in the admin panel. Check here to know more about the staff roles.

This allows agencies to manage ad codes and placements without affecting other areas of your site, ensuring they can focus solely on ad management while your internal team retains control over content and settings.

Where to Manage and Configure Ads

To manage and configure your ads, go to Ads Website section in the admin panel, under Monetizing:

In the Ads Overview Page, you can view all ad positions available on your website. Each position is labeled with its name, type (e.g., in-article or custom), and status (published or unpublished). Click any ad to edit it or view its details.

Once you select (or create) an ad from the overview page, you’ll be able to:

  • Change the name (though we recommend keeping the name consistent).

  • Edit the content: This is where you paste the ad code provided by your ad provider.

  • Published: This setting allows you to choose whether the ad is live on the site or not.

  • Alternative Ad(blocker) Content: In this section, you can paste the code for the alternative ads, ensuring that visitors using adblockers still see some form of advertisement or sponsored content. Read more on our specific article on Adblocker ads.
    This helps maximize your ad revenue by offering a backup plan for visitors who would otherwise block traditional ads, giving you more flexibility in managing how ads are displayed on your site.

Viewing Ad Positions on Your Website

If you’re unsure where the ad positions are located on a particular page, simply add

?ads=1 to the end of the URL. This will display gray boxes in place of the ads, showing the position names. This feature helps visualize the exact placement of each ad position on your page.

Types of Ad Positions

Newsifier provides flexibility when it comes to ad placement. The main types of ad positions are:

  1. Custom Positions: Newsifier offers a variety of predefined ad positions, carefully tested for excellent performance. These positions are strategically located in high-visibility areas, such as headers, sidebars, or the bottom of pages, to help maximize your revenue potential. If you need something tailored to your specific needs, you can request a custom position. Please note that creating a new custom position involves a fee. For more details or to make a request, contact Newsifier support, and our team will assist you!

  2. In-Article Ads: This feature allows you to place ads within the body of an article. You can select specific blocks (paragraphs, images, or other content pieces) where the ad will be inserted. It gives you until After 40 Blocks.
    Additionally, there’s an option to place ads in the middle of the content, which ensures perfectly aligned ads, regardless of article length.

Min-Height Setting

While not a type of ad, the min-height setting is an important feature that ensures consistent ad display. Defining a minimum height for each ad position prevents Content Layout Shift (CLS), where content moves unexpectedly as ads load. This setting helps ensure a smoother user experience and avoids potential SEO penalties.

Banner Rotation

Newsifier also allows for banner rotation within a single ad position. To use this feature, select the checkbox 'Banner Rotation' in the ad editor. This enables you to insert multiple ads separated by three stripes (---), as shown in the example below:

<a href="#">
<img src="first_banner.jpg" />
</a>
---
<a href="#">
<img src="second_banner.jpg" />
</a>

When your page loads, it will randomly display one of the banners. For example, the first time the page might display first_banner.jpg, and when you reload, it might show second_banner.jpg. This feature helps to keep ads fresh and varied for users.

Additional Considerations for Ads Integration

  1. Ads.txt: In many cases, integrating ads requires adding a file called ads.txt and filling it with the required information from your ad agencies. This ensures your ads are properly authenticated. For more details, check out our help article on the Files Section.

  2. Head Codes: Many ad providers require an ads code to be added to the head section of your webpage. We have a dedicated article on setting up head codes, for detailed instructions, refer to our help article on setting up head codes.

Conclusion

Newsifier’s Ads feature gives you complete control over ad management, ensuring your ads are strategically placed to maximize revenue without compromising the user experience. Whether using in-house teams or external ad agencies, you’ll find all the tools you need to manage and optimize ads efficiently.
