Introduction

The Newsifier article editor makes it simple and efficient to write, format, and publish articles. It allows you to create modular content using blocks, which can be easily moved, formatted, or deleted. This help article provides an overview of the editor options and walks you through the steps to add a new article.

1. Start with the Headline

The first step in creating your article is to write a clear and engaging headline.

  • A/B Testing (Optional): Enable the A/B Test option if you'd like to test multiple headlines and see which one performs better. Newsifier will present each version to a portion of your readers and determine the winner based on click-through rates. [Learn more about A/B Testing here].

Tip: Check out our blog post on how to write headlines that drive traffic.

Tip: Schedule weekly meetings with your editors to review A/B testing results. This helps train your team on which headlines work best for your audience.

2. Add the Article Content

The next step is adding the content of your article. Our block editor is designed to make creating and editing articles more intuitive and flexible. Each piece of content—whether it’s text, images, tables, or other elements—exists in its own “block,” and can be moved, edited, or deleted independently.

Adding Text Blocks and using the toolbar

When you start typing, the default block is a text block. You can add additional text blocks or other elements as needed and format your text using the toolbar that appears at the top of the block.

  • Formatting options: Format your text using bold, italics, underline, and headings (H1, H2, etc.).

  • Headings: Use headings to structure your article and improve readability. You can create a heading by selecting text and clicking the "H" icon in the toolbar or by clicking the H icon in the block toolbar and typing your heading.

3. Adding images

You need to choose a main image for your article, which will be displayed at the top of the article and wherever the article appears across the site.

You can also embed articles in your article itself. To insert an image, use the image icon in the toolbar. This will open the Media Manager, where you can either upload a new image or select one from your existing library.

  • Drag-and-Drop: You can also add images to the media manager by dragging and dropping an image into the media manager.
Here you can read more about the media manager, for example how to create galleries or add watermarks to your images.

4. Adding Polls, Tables, Links, and Media

  • Embedding Polls

    • Click the Poll icon in the toolbar to add a poll block.

    • You can create multiple-choice polls, add or remove answers, move the poll around in the article, or close it when needed, allowing only the poll results to be displayed.

  • Adding Tables

    • Use the Table block to add table to your article to organize data in rows and columns. You can easily add, remove, or rearrange rows and columns

    How to Add Columns:

Click on the plus “+” icon next to the column header.

    How to Add Rows:

Click on the plus “+” icon at the bottom of the last row.

    How to Add Table Heading:

Click on the six points icon at the top left corner of the table, and select the tune.

  • Adding Social Media Posts and YouTube videos

Within Newsifier, you can embed social media posts and YouTube videos in your article with just a few clicks. You do not need to work with embed codes; you can simply paste the URL inside the editor.

    1. Copy the URL: From the platform (e.g., YouTube, Instagram), copy the URL of the content you wish to embed.

      Example: YouTube

    2. Paste the URL: In the article editor, simply paste the URL where you want the content to appear.

    3. Automatic Embedding: Once pasted, the URL will automatically convert into an embedded version of the content, displaying a preview directly in the editor.

  • Embedding External Media (Videos, Spotify, etc.)

If you want to embed external media, use the Raw HTML block to paste the embed code (e.g., from Spotify or non custom video players).

The editor will automatically convert the raw HTML into a displayable format on your website.

Note: Remember that all social media posts and YouTube videos can just be embedded by copying the URL and paste it in the editor directly.

  • Adding Lists

With the editor you can also easily add lists to your article. Either ordered (1,2,3 etc.) or unordered.

  • Adding quotes

To add a quote in the editor, first highlight the text you want to use. Then, select the "Quote" icon from the toolbar. You can also add the author’s name if you want to show who said the quote. The quote will look different from the rest of the text, making it stand out.

Quotes help make your article more interesting and easier to read. They can break up long sections of text and catch the reader’s attention. You can use quotes from experts, famous sayings, or even customer feedback to make your content more engaging.

  • Adding links

You can add links by simply selecting the word you want to link from and click the link icon in the toolbar.

You can add the following two types of links:

    • Internal Links: Links to other articles within your site.

    • External Links: Add outside links with Rel attribute like no-follow, UGC, or sponsored, to manage SEO impact:

      • no-follow: Tells search engines not to pass SEO value (link equity) to the linked page. Use it when you don’t want to endorse the linked content.

      • UGC (User-Generated Content):Used to signal that the link comes from user-generated content like comments, forums, or reviews. This helps search engines identify links that were not added by the site owner but by users.

      • Sponsored: Indicates that the link is part of a paid advertisement, sponsorship, or other compensation agreement.

  • If the Target link is a URL for another domain, by default the links open in new window. On the other hand, if the URL is a related-domain URL, it will open it in same window, unless you changed the option.

5. How to Add Related Articles to Your Article in Newsifier

Adding related articles to your content can help increase page views and reduce your bounce rate, which is beneficial for SEO. Here’s a step-by-step guide to adding related articles in the Newsifier editor:

1. To begin select the Related Articles icon from the toolbar

2. Search for Related Articles

You have several ways to find related articles:

  • By Tags: Search by the tags associated with the article.

  • By Category: Filter by category to find relevant articles.

  • By Title: Type in a keyword from the article title to search for related articles.

Once you find the article you want to add, you can choose one of two options:

  • Add a Related Article Block:

    • Once you find the related article, click on the blue Add button next to it. This will insert the related article into your content, displaying its image and title. You can place this block anywhere in your article, such as after the first two paragraphs.

    • Why Use Related Article Blocks?
Adding related articles encourages readers to click and explore more content on your site, increasing page views and reducing bounce rates—both of which help your SEO performance.

  • Add an AI-Generated Sentence (Optional)

    • As an alternative, you can choose to add an AI-generated sentence. This option automatically creates a sentence that introduces the related article naturally within your text, with a link to the related content.

For example, the AI might generate a sentence like: "Cristiano Ronaldo also confessed last week that he is considering to retire from professional football, read more here [related article title]."

6. Embedding product reviews, affiliate deals or match center widgets

The Newsifier editor allows you to easily enhance your articles by embedding product reviews, affiliate deals, or Matchcenter (live football data) widgets.

  • Product reviews

Product reviews can be added with ratings, images, and key selling points. This feature is especially popular with tech and product-focused websites, and Google’s markup ensures the reviews are properly indexed for SEO.

  • Affiliate deals

With affiliate deals, you can connect your affiliate account (we currently support only Bol.com) and quickly embed deals directly into your content. The editor automatically includes the necessary tracking links, making it a seamless way to monetize your articles.

  • Matchcenter widgets

For football news publishers, Matchcenter widgets allow you to embed live data such as player profiles, rankings, or match results into your articles. These widgets are especially valuable for keeping readers engaged with real-time updates on their favorite teams and players.

7. SEO and Readability Tools

Newsifier provides built-in tools to help you optimize your article for both readability and SEO.

  • Google Preview

You can preview how your Meta title and description appear in the Google Search results. By default, the headline of the article will be used as the Meta Title and the first text of the article will be used as the meta description, but you can edit both.

Optimizing how your meta title and description of your article look in Google search can attract more clicks from search users.

  • AI-Generated Meta Description

You can also generate an AI-generated meta description based on the content of your article by clicking on the “Generate Meta description” button. This is an optimized meta description that will lead to maximum clicks.

  • Basic SEO Check

The Basic SEO Check evaluates your article based on key SEO factors like word count, the presence of internal and external links, and the use of tags.

    • Word Count: Ensure your article contains at least 300 words.

    • Links: Add internal and external links to improve SEO.

    • Tags: Use relevant tags to classify your article and improve search visibility.

  • Advanced SEO Check

For more comprehensive SEO optimization, you can enter a keyword or keyphrase and run an Advanced SEO Check. This tool will analyze your article’s performance based on the entered keyword and suggest improvements.

  • Flesch Reading Ease

The Flesch Reading Ease score checks the readability of your article. A score of 70 or above is recommended to ensure your content is easy to read for most audiences. Google factors readability into its search ranking algorithms, so a higher score means your content is more likely to rank better in search results

  • Check Reading Score: After writing your article, click Check Reading Score to see how your article rates.

8. Tags, Categories and author

Before you publish, you’ll need to assign the article to a category, add relevant tags, and pick the author

  • Tags: Add tags that relate to the content of your article to improve searchability within your site.

  • Category: Choose a category from the dropdown to classify your article.

  • Author: By default the author that is logged in is already pre-selected but you have the option to select a different author from the dropdown

  • Save as Draft: If you’re not ready to publish, you can save the article as a draft to come back to it later.

  • Publishing Now or Later: You can publish the article immediately by clicking Publish Article, or schedule it for a future date and time.

  • Social Media Sharing: Choose where to share your article (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) by checking the relevant boxes in the Share section.

Preview your article:

You can use the preview option see how your article will appear on the front end of your site before it's published and share a preview link.

This is a great way to check the layout, formatting, and overall presentation of your content. The preview will give you a real-time view of how the article will display to readers, helping you catch any last-minute adjustments needed for text, images, or embedded media.

You can use the preview feature for example when working on sponsored content or partnerships, the preview can be shared with advertisers or collaborators to ensure everything meets their expectations before it goes live.

  • Featured articles
To make your article appear in the featured section on your home page select the "Featured article" option on the right side of the editor before publishing. You can choose to add it to the smaller featured position or on the big one.
You can use the featured section for your most important content, such as breaking news, exclusive stories, or high-traffic articles that you want to promote

  • Choosing the type of your article

By default ‘normal’ is pre-selected here but you can also pick one of the the other types. Below a quick overview:

    • Normal: This is the default

    • Video: Use this type if you want the video to replace the main image of the article

    • XML Feed: This type will be set automatically when an article comes from an external XML, check the full article on the XML Feature.

    • Liveblog: Use this type if you would like to add a liveblog to your article.

    • External: Use this type if you would redirect the article into an external link.

10. Advanced article settings

At the bottom of the right side of the editor you find some advanced options that are hidden by default but that you can use if needed.

  • Article Options : You can select one of the following options:

    • Disable comments: Turn off comments for this article.

    • AI Comments: Automatically generate AI-powered comments for the article.
Generate AI comments after you publish; the comments will be published within 0 to 10 minutes based on your settings.

    • Sticky: Pin the article at the top of your news list.

    • Advertorial: Mark the article as an advertorial, this makes that it will not appear in your RSS feed.

    • Bold title: Display the title in bold to make it stand out.

  • Article visibility: Please note that if you want to use this setting, you first need to contact Newsifier, as we need to manually activate it for you. By default, your articles are published on the home page, on the tag pages of the tags you have added to your article, on the author page etc. With this article visibility setting you can choose to hide your article from certain pages.
